April Round Table Meetings (4/11/2025)

April round table supported Sexual Assault Awareness Month through review of the warning signs of sexual abuse and professional responsibility to support student victims of sexual violence. Special attention was given to new requirements in Article 26 of the school code effective for next school year concerning student expulsions and two guidance resources available from ISBE. Different levels of accessibility supports were reviewed for state assessments and the factors that determine their use for students with IEPs and 504s appropriately. A detailed review of the decision tree for participation in the Illinois Alternative Assessment was provided to identify key factors for student participation. Lastly, participants learned the benefits of multi-factor authentication for logging into assessment systems, reviewed the Farm Family Resource Initiative, the Instagram School Partnership Program benefits, and Invent2Prevent as an opportunity for HS students. School psychologists received preliminary data review of a thesis study by Cole Westmoreland, LEASE School Psychology Intern, to understand factors related to professional burnout and possible protective factors. School Psychologists met 9:00-11:00 A.M. and Social Workers and Counselors met 1:00-3:00 P.M.

January Round Table Meetings (1/17/2025)

January round table focused on review of legislative and guidance changes in Illinois for effective service delivery, understanding the circumstances that influence when consent is required for an FBA, training on the PUNS process, ISC identification, and DDD programs, as well as, field research opportunities and upcoming assessment updates.  Additionally, time was given for collaboration and consultation on current issues. School Psychologists met 9:00-11:00 A.M. and Social Workers and Counselors met 1:00-3:00 P.M.

November round table focused on a review of the Anonymized Threat Response Guidance with specifics to the role of school based mental health providers in response and for behavioral threat assessment and management. Additionally, new lending library resources were featured, activities and information were shared on National School Psychology Week,  and as always time was given for collaboration and consultation on current issues. School Psychologists met 9:00-11:00 A.M. and Social Workers and Counselors met 1:00-3:00 P.M.
